Laudato si’

Laudato Si’ is Pope Francis’ landmark encyclical that calls for a deeper understanding of our responsibility to care for the Earth, our “common home.” Released in 2015, it emphasizes the urgent need for environmental sustainability and social justice, highlighting the interconnectedness of ecological issues with global inequality.

Pope Francis urges all people, regardless of faith, to embrace a sense of shared responsibility for the environment. His message promotes an integral ecology that respects the dignity of every human being while safeguarding the planet for future generations.

In line with this vision, the Catholic (National) Commission for Justice and Peace actively contributes to climate action. Human Rights Defenders (HRDs) and CCJP staff are engaged in plantation drives, conducting awareness sessions, and organizing climate change activities across various districts and dioceses. Their efforts aim to inspire local communities to take practical steps in mitigating climate change and fostering environmental stewardship at the grassroots level.
